That is a good point, @username - It is a reasonable bet to make that Lenovo would've included a downstream TB3 port on their dock if they were able to.

Want to output [email protected] out of an old system on the cheap? Read here.
Give your Node Pro a second Thunderbolt3 controller for reliable peripherals by re-using a TB3 dock (~50$).

I found this thread through reddit and watched a video on their YouTube channel "exklim Tech News" showing them appearing on TV and I noticed something that I just couldn't let go, it may not be a major contribute to this thread but I'll let you guys decide.

First off,

- If you skip to 2:21 you can see the eX core's fan not spinning because obviously it's not connected.
- Now skip to 4:57 and you can see the fan is STILL not spinning even though it's presumably running GTA V.
- Closeup of the fan at 0:49 if you want a better understanding of the fan's blades position.

I've read almost everything on this thread and I may not fully comprehend the wattages mentioned but I just can't believe that that small of a heatsink on a 1050 is enough to passively cool it while running GTA V. I owned a desktop GTX 1050 a while ago and I know how efficient they are and that with a regular heatsink that isn't any form of a vapor chamber with a fan slapped on it keeps it easily within 60-70c running stock, yet I still wont believe the eX Core till I see it actually reviewed.

It may be a silly thing to point out but I can't have a peace of mind unless I mention it. Someone please convince me otherwise.

Difficult to tell. It might be because of the shutter speed "sync".

I do! I wonder what happened to that project ? Looked great at the time, despite the frat boy team behind it.

I think the issue with the Wolfe was that they could not get the licensing done. Didn't they also refund the kickstarter funds?

1) Because we aren't in Canada.

just joined this to say I live in the same city, if anyone has questions and want to take them up on their offer to visit I  would not mind going there myself and asking the questions for you.
I really do hope this is a real product but with all the lack of information from @exklim I'm very skeptical.

Now I'm not super knowledgeable when it comes to GPUs like the rest of the community is, but for the sake of putting exklim statements of "not  being able to tell us anything unless someone were to go there" I offer up myself as I'm right here, a stones throw away.
I will ask the questions anyone wants asked if they accept to meet with me, and I will report back with all their answers.

@yukikaze & @itsage if you are okay with someone in-experienced asking the questions for you I am up for going there and asking them.

@fatred - You most certainly don't need our permission to go and visit them. If they're willing to show their stuff to you and you are willing to go over there, it is entirely up to you. If you want some help with specific questions to ask, my questions post is a good place to start. If they agree to show you around, I am sure we can compile a list of additional questions for you to take along, and a list of tests to perform. If I were the one going, I'd bring my own system along for testing, rather than relying on theirs, as well as bring my own monitoring and benchmarking software.

Basically this. They discovered half way through that TB2 licensing would not be granted, conducted a survey to see which TB version their backers were hoping for, and then cancelled the project with less than 48 hours remaining to prevent backers like me from being charged in the first place.

As much as I'd like to use my own system none of my PCs have thunderbolt 3. The closest I have to that would be my Mac that I was given for work and that is only Thunderbolt 2.

I joined just to offer myself as a replacement if need be. Just so someone could visit them if need be and ask the questions they are not wanting to answer here.

I have contacted the French website MacGeneration over the weekend, who did an article on the exCore a few days ago. I pointed out the suspicions of our community.

They just published an updated article outlining (in French) the result of your investigations. The editorial team has contacted (in French of course) @exklim for clarifications. @exklim you'll thus be able to answer in your working language, if it is French indeed.

Big up to Nicolas from MacG, for listening to us and publishing this piece.
