Apple announced the 2021 iPad Pro today with M1 chip and Thunderbolt 4. With the current lack of third-party graphics drivers, Thunderbolt 3/4 eGPU support is not yet possible. However, Apple can always incorporate drivers for either AMD Radeon graphics cards or discrete graphics cards they produce themselves in the future.

Seeing the power brick for the new 2021 iMac M1 which integrates an Ethernet port, I'm hopeful Apple is testing the water for a universal Apple dock that provides power delivery and expansion ports to Mac and other Apple products.
