Hi. First day running a Dell XPS 15 2-in-1 (9575) + Razer Core X Chroma + MSI Nvidia GTX 970 4GB

I have honestly loved setting this up as its been really close to plug and play. Had a couple of blue screens but I think that mostly just had to do with getting the drivers installed properly and then rebooting. Been good for a couple of hours.

I am consistently running into the issue of being unable to boot while the eGPU is plugged in. I get stuck on the dell logo, go to a charging error, and then back to the dell logo with a underscore page in the top left sometimes.

Is there any suggestion on how to remedy this? I'm really quite dense when it comes to these things so I'd appreciate any advice greatly.

Thanks

Try installing the thunderbolt firmware update from may 2019.

Try setting the thunderbolt port security setting to Low or None in any Dell control panel software.

Try updating Windows to the latest Spring Update version 2004.

Did all these things: Result stayed the same.

I was able to solve by going into BIOS > Thunderbolt Settings and disabling Thunderbolt Boot and Pre-boot modules.

So long as this isn't bad somehow, it's working nicely now.

Ah, good news.

Makes sense, as those default bios settings seem to be specifically for Dell thunderbolt docking station support.
