@valkeriefire, I think you hit the silicon lottery! That's a great stock clock at 1930 MHz. You have at least +100 MHz on my chip. Maybe you got one of the "A" SKU chips?

@joikansai, thank you for the information about the OC Scanner as it relates to eGPUs. I had no idea about the tendency to show higher boosts than is actually stable. I'll do what you suggest and work on +10 MHz increments.

However, in terms of real-world perceivable differences, do these overclocks manifest enough of a difference to warrant the time spent hitting that absolute peak frequency?

You can use afterburner on screen display to check it, and running Anthem 1440p Ultra i get maybe around 10fps boost with my max OC on cheapest Evga 2070, the Black.
To everyone who can’t access OC scanner it’s on 4.6.0 Beta (mine).

Thanks for your OC settings, I managed to greatly improve my score in 3dmark too...

8324 for GPU with OC vs 7700ish stock...

Interestingly 3dmark says core clock as  2025 mhz

Sunny - Please share your final o/c settings. I want to try the same with mine as well.

That’s about what I got with my 7700hq and 9560 at stock clocks so that sounds right.

@nikunj_nik I ended up with +185 on core clock and +500 on memory. GPU crashed if I push it above 200 on the core clock so I lowered it to 185 and has been perfectly stable. I can push ram further too but haven't bothered trialing and happy with the results and stability currently...

Did a little overclocking and picked it up a bit. The memory is stout but the core is average at best.

Best run (Time Spy) so far is 6565 on the laptop's display. Next up, an external.

External display wasn't worth much, small bump to 6773.

Thanks how have been your temps ? My temp is hovering around 73 to 74 . Also even though I have oced my core to +196 I dont see much of a boost in games. Maybe around 4 to 5 fps max.

Even though I am getting scores closer to a GTX 1080 in Timespy, for DX12 games my FPS is closer to 1070 Max Q laptops . Thats a little disappointing.

Temp  maxed at 67° but I had the window open to allow cold air into the room. With normal ambient room temps, it runs 69-70° at +185/+1275 (relatively useless with boost); MSI Afterburner reports 2070/8276 (2069) for the memory.

Are you guys arriving at your core O/Cs via manual tuning or are you using the OC scanner baked into Turing and Pascal? Lastly, for this particular card, given that it already has pretty good airflow, do you think repasting would improve temps and give any more thermal headroom?

This is my first Gigabyte Aorus product so I'm unsure if TIM and thermal pads are an area cost savings outweighed performance.

I havent encountered any thermal throttling so there doesnt seem to be a need. I used manual overclocks and am pretty close to maxed out at this point it looks like. I'll do a little more tweaking today to see if I can squeeze out some benchmark results. Also plan to install Shadow of the Tomb Raider today so I'll run a couple benchmarks for that.

That depends on setting on 1080p maybe 1070maxq performs better but not on 1440p or 4K. I just tested (not gaming box) 2070 Evga Black paired with 8750H on Anthem, 4K medium is playable on 40fps on 1070maxq barely hit 30, mostly on 20ish. On some titles you’ve also tweaking the setting to get better performance, it’s due TB3 bandwidth limitation that’s different on title to title and don’t forget its limitation vs full pcie speed on dgpu. But if you’re playing with gaming laptops cpu, you’ll get huge cpu thermal improvement. For FPS game like 100ish one I prefer 1070mq on 1080p but for great quality titles that doesn’t need 100fps, I prefer 1440p~ with eGPU.
