[Unboxing] Mantiz Saturn Pro II MZ-03 Thunderbolt 3 eGPU Enclosure (US$299 RRP)
I decided to get the Mantiz and I'm ready to place an order -- just need to pick a color. Did anyone else get silver? I really like it in the pictures but since someone else posted that it doesn't look good in person, I'm concerned about choosing it since returning it from Japan will be expensive.
Anyone have regrets about their color choice or super happy with their choice? Any pictures? Thanks everyone!
@mymantiz_john, it would be awesome if you could get some side by side pictures (not renders). Think you can get some?
@littlenewton, is that a silver or space grey version of the Mantiz in your video? Thanks!
My enclosure is space grey. It seems that the vendor does not provide the silver version because I didn't really see they putting the silver version on the shelf.
I will finish my desktop PC in a few months. I only need one motherboard now. ASUS X299 Deluxe II and Gigabyte X299X Aorus master are the target motherboards.
@mymantiz_john, more pictures (not renders) of devices side by side please! I can't choose a color...
itsage already had 2 colors Photos..
Here's the " Black "
I already have a 3090FE, and yesterday I bought a Matiz Saturn Pro just for it.
I saw that you mentioned Mantiz Saturn Pro won't support 3090 FE, the reason is that the 3090FE is a 3 slot card.
You also mention that the width is able to fit, and I saw online that there are people who fit 3 or 2.5 slot card in a two 2 slot board.
So if I really need to use 3090 FE with Mantiz Saturn Pro, will it fit and function at all? I don't care if it is a little tight..
Due to various reason I only have 3090 FE, I won't be able to use 3090 from other vendors 🙁
If not, I better cancel my order now..
@edward_liu, the reason it wouldn’t fit is due to the cutout for the IO bracket (where the metal bit fits through the back for the HDMI/DP ports). The actual width of the card being 3 slot will fit internally, but the I/O slot in the Saturn is only sized for a 2 slot I/O bracket. That’s why many of the 3090 AIB partner cards will fit, because they are fitted with 2 slot IO brackets even though they are 2.7-2.9 slot cards. The FE has a 3 slot IO bracket and is a full 3 slots in width. I would imagine you could cut out a bigger hole for the IO bracket, assuming you’re comfortable with that and have access to the tools to do it cleanly. I’d probably cut all the way to the edge of the backplate since you’d probably not have much material left there after enlarging it to 3 slot anyhow. Also, can you hook a guy up with your early access to 3090 gpus???
Ok. Thanks for confirming!
That's a bummer.. Is there any eGPU encloser out there that can fit 3090FE, would Razer Core fit it? Why don't they just make the IO bracket slot bigger? 😛
Cutting the metal myself sounds too much for me..
@edward_liu, Thinking about this a bit more - the i/o bracket doesn't actually need to go *through* the hole in the saturn. It just rests right up against it from the inside. I've been trying to find a photo of the 3090 FE io bracket to see if there are any vents or actual i/o ports that would then be blocked by the saturn case covering the right 1/3 of the io bracket. I can't find any as of yet, but looking at the razer and some other egpus, it looks like their i/o holes are also only 2 slots in width so I'm not sure how they handle that issue. The 3090 FE utilizes the vents in the i/o bracket to exhaust hot air from one of the fans (the one closest to the i/o bracket) so itd be important not to block too much of that. and of course if there are any hdmi/dp ports blocked that could cause an issue also. Finally, there are little slots for the bottom bracket 'teeth' inside the saturn to slot into, there *might* be some metal down there that could interfere with the 3rd tooth from the inside, but that'd be extremely minor and you could probably remove that altogether without compromising much of the integrity of the case. Do you have a straight-on photo of the i/o bracket on the FE card you'd be willing to share to take a look at this?
@edward_liu, see my private message.
the red is the hole in the saturn so you're good on i/o ports and exhaust vents. The blue is where I think you MIGHT have some issues on the inside of the saturn case but I'll let @mymantiz_john and @itsage weight in. My feeling is that you will probably be ok fitting that extra metal inside the case, but I don't want you to take my word on it 100%
@edward_liu, RTX 3090 FE is a massive card and it doesn't fit any eGPU enclosure on the market. Concerning the Mantiz Saturn Pro, it may work without the outer shell on. You may need to modify the PCIe bracket as @bmagnien's highlighted image shows.
Thanks for confirming @bmagnien!
I just saw your message! Note taken and thank you! Unfortunately I cannot write messages here yet it seems, so I will reply you here
