There's basically no options. Fact is, the $299 base price is added up another $30 plus $80 shipping, and that doesn't include import VAT and customs duties to your country...

It's still in the ballpark price of a Razer Core X Chroma, but what about warranty or return policy for a DOA item? I'd rather deal with a local reseller than have to go through intercontinental shipping if any issue arises and have downtime and overall frustration with it...

We heard the voices from customers from E.U.

We had prepared certain amount of Saturn Pro V2 in Germany which had been fully paid import tax & V.A.T. It means we can start to ship to All EU with “ VAT included “ & “ Free shipping “ . Get your coupon of 20USD discount by writing to us to [email protected]

Nice! It's quite tempting, I'm even considering selling my Core X Chroma for this. I've noticed only 2 colors are available, are you planning on selling the black version anytime soon?

Black is completely sold out. We'll prepare the color in next production.

I feel sad that I was left out! I just got mine Saturn tonight (in Japan). I DM'd you (@mymantiz_john) a few weeks ago but never heard back about a discount or free shipping. I paid $329 + $55 for shipping. Additionally, the Mantiz team shipped the wrong power cord (picture attached), so I need to go out and buy an extra power cord tomorrow. Japan uses the same 2-pronged power cable as the US, or 3 prong if necessary (usually has a grounding wire attached for the 2-prong). #feelsbadman

I was actually coming here to write about the experience I've had so far tonight -- I installed a Red Devil 5700 XT inside and have been running some tests.

The Saturn Pro II (in Black) looks amazing. It is HUGE. I am coming from a Gigabyte Gaming Box and I didn't realize how much larger this would be. It feels like a second PC instead of an accessory to my MacBook Pro. I've attached some photos below for comparison.

I haven't been able to get the Ethernet working yet -- I probably need some MacOS drivers; I don't see them on the Mantiz website, so I will hunt around. I think I saw someone else post about it here... If anyone has an idea (@itsage), please let me know! Thanks in advance.

I also haven't installed an 2.5" drive inside yet. I am planning on eventually installing one for backups/video storage.

Lastly, I have to concur with the other posts earlier on this thread -- there is definitely some audible coil whine coming from the PSU and the fans are audible even under no load. I have only Safari open to type this post and I can hear the PSU fan and/or case fan from 2m+ away. I'm using a LG OLED C9 as an external display so I have to sit pretty far back -- I can hear the fans and coil whine clearly. It's not terrible but it's definitely not "silent" and they seem to never turn off -- my MacBook Pro is fully charged and I'm not using the GPU at all but they've been spinning for 30 minutes or more. To be clear, it is not the PowerColor Red Devil 5700 XT's fans; the GPU's fans are not even spinning.

TLDR; It is easily twice as loud as my 580 RX Gaming Box. This is disappointing! But I guess I was warned... 😫

(EDITED BELOW, spoiler, I love it.) Bottom line, it is a beautiful device (especially with the Red Devil inside) and you can tell the Mantiz team put love and effort into it. However, if I could go back in time knowing what I know now, I would not order the Mantiz and stick with my Gigabyte Gaming Box and throw a 5700 ITX or 5600 XT ITX inside -- that's enough horsepower for my needs and in a much smaller device.

Edit: This driver worked for my Ethernet: https://www.realtek.com/en/component/zoo/category/network-interface-controllers-10-100-1000m-gigabit-ethernet-usb-3-0-software ; there is also a great reddit post about this driver: https://www.reddit.com/r/mac/comments/gukh9c/fyi_usbc_hubs_with_ethernet_might_cause_high_cpu/ -- it works exactly as he described in this post with the Saturn Pro ethernet.

Another Edit: I got over my initial shock at how large the eGPU was and now I super love it. The build quality is amazing. It looks beautiful (especially with the Red Devil inside). I love it so much I ordered a Seasonic Focus PX 850W PSU and Noctua F-A12x25 PWM fan for it -- I will see if that helps make it more quiet.

As John wrote, the PSU fan is turning off most of the time and the case fan is the biggest culprit of the noise I am experiencing -- it's not loud but I can hear the constant hum of it even while seated more than 2m from the eGPU. I used an iPhone app to measure the dBA where I am sitting and it's around 36 dBA (nearby silent spot is 31 dBA) and when I measure near the eGPU it is around 44-46 dBA. I work at night so silence is really important to me. I'll report back later and do a final build guide once I'm done.

Anybody tried doing some video work with the Mantiz Saturn V2?

Now that I got the eGPU (just placed the order, still has to be shipped) I'm looking for the best configuration to work with my 2018 MBP

So, what would be the best RX5700XT card? I'm leaning towards the Radeon brand but you guys tell me (looking for 4K editing work power for video and timelapses).

Also, I'm thinking about putting the additional SSD drive in the internal drive bay. That drive will hold my sound libraries, so a regular 1TB SSD should be pretty fast, but I think I'll also try running some footage off of it, in which case I'll probably need an NVme and an 3.5 adapter.

Your opinion?

Thanx

...

we should provide the JPN power cord. it is a mistake, willing to provide the power cord refund to you. Let us know how much you buy the extra one.

about the Fan noise & coil whine. I've seriously tested, it sounds like the coil whine when the fan started. but it is a noise of the fan when they started. PSU had fan start stop design, if the PSU reached to 55 degree, then it will start. It doesn't mean that  laptop was fully charged then PSU suddenly dropped the temperate to be below 55. and for safer reasons. after PSU charged. keep fan running awhile is also good for the product life cycle. regarding the silence, I can guarantee, it will be much much smaller than a tiny EGPU. A tiny eGPU only use couple 40mm fan, and you can imagine how loud it will be to keep the enclosure cool.

Lan is driverless in MacOS or Windows. There's no necessary to preinstall anything. If there's any issue with this, let us know. [email protected]

Thanx a lot for the info. Unbelievably it looks like the Vega 64 is still the top performer...at least in DaVinci, I work with FCPX and Premiere Pro at times.

Best
