Hi,

I have still USB problems on a brand new Mantiz Saturn Pro II MZ-03.

Do both Thunderbolt controllers in the Mantiz enclosure show the 44,1 firmeware?

The second controller shows only 20,1 for me. is this normal?

A USB-HD-Webcam disconnects after some times. My USB-Sound drops once every minute.

I mean, the AMD 5700XT works great with the 2018 Macbook. But it is not quite the promise to get rid of an secondary Thunderbolt UBS&Ethernet Hub. I Hope Software can fix it.

I am happy to test around a bit, if I can change firmware versions.

Thanks for your help.

@stefan_ried, The TBT controller firmware versions look right. Describe your USB peripherals connection in full detail and condition in which you're experiencing issues.

I am happy to supply as much info as possible.

The Sound Card is a semi-professional RME USB Sound card with latest firmware and drivers.

It is a very common card in Europe: https://www.rme-audio.de/babyface-pro-fs.html

System Info:

Babyface (23131609):

  Produkt-ID: 0x3fc7

  Hersteller-ID: 0x0424  (SMSC)

  Version: 0.01

  Seriennummer: C3F1A34598E20C8

  Geschwindigkeit: Bis zu 480 MBit/s

  Hersteller: RME

  Standort-ID: 0x06100000 / 2

  Verfügbare Stromstärke (mA): 500

  Erforderliche Stromstärke (mA): 100

  Zusätzlicher Betriebsstrom (mA): 0

The output sound stream drops actually every 10 to 20 seconds for about half a second.

The RME Sound Card is totally stable and reliable on another USB Hub.

And in this test, the Sound Card is the only USB device at the eGPU, no other USB devices, no ethernet connected.

If I search the console for "USB", I see the following messages exactly when the sound drops shortly.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

A similar problem is with an no-name USB Webcam.

The Webcam is a usual HD Webcam

USB 2.0 Camera #2:

  Modell-ID: UVC Camera VendorID_1443 ProductID_38192

  Eindeutige ID: 0x440000005a39530

USB 2.0 Camera:

  Produkt-ID: 0x9530

  Hersteller-ID: 0x05a3  (V Automation Inc.)

  Version: 1.00

  Seriennummer: SN5100

  Geschwindigkeit: Bis zu 480 MBit/s

  Hersteller: Sonix Technology Co., Ltd.

  Standort-ID: 0x04400000 / 3

  Verfügbare Stromstärke (mA): 500

  Erforderliche Stromstärke (mA): 256

  Zusätzlicher Betriebsstrom (mA): 0

Again, it is the only USB connected device to the eGPU.

It runs for no latency or flicker very nicely.

But after about 3 minutes, it is suddenly disconnected.

The console filtered at the term "usb" drops in this moment:

Then connection is permanently lost.

I have to unplug and replug the USB Camera to get it back.

After two minutes of so, the software crashed again.

I hope this detail helps to fix the problem and improve the great product.

My enclosure arrived today. So far I'm happy but I'm running into a strange issue with my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet 3rd Gen: Somehow when I connect the enclosure to the tablet, it powers on and off in a cyclic manner, making it unusable.

I don't know why this is happening. I tried to change some settings on the BIOS but it didn't help. The only way I'm able to use it is having it plugged simultaneously with the 65W USB-C Charger. This never happened with the Core X Chroma and it doens't happen with my Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1. Has anyone ever had anything similar?

Dell Latitude 5290 2-in-1 (i7 8650u, 16GB LPDDR3) + Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet 3rd Gen (i7 8550u, 16GB LPDDR3) + Razer Core X Chroma + GTX 1070 Ti

Mine should be here next week. I'll post again if they work well.

I still believe the Mantiz Saturn Pro II MZ-03 is a genius device. But it's simply a first version product.

Mantiz could never have tested all the configurations of possible hardware components and software on host laptops. Let's be realistic and fair.

So, let's help them to push this product to a mature and stable level. I hope they have the capacity to fix the real difficult software issues on the thunderbolt protocol and kext level.

For me, the concept of an additional TB3 controller for the USB ports was the buying argument. If this isn't getting stable, I need to go back to a cheaper enclosure and a second TB3 USB/Ethernet Hub.

Hi all,

I got the shipping number from Mantiz a few days ago and it checks out with the DHL tracking saying my Mantiz has been shipped from Frankfurt and is on the way.

Now it may take a while to get the Radeon RX5700XT so, is it safe to hook the Mantiz up to my MBP even without the graphics card and see if the USB, SSD drive and other ports are working with my setup? Am I risking to damage something?

Thanx

@gerax

sure, the enclosure will show up like an TB3 USB Hub with an USB-Ethernet Card.

I have not found anything in the documentation, that the card must be installed.
