@cheeky, Around 2 months later. 

 

@bart_simpson, We had recalled the PSU with whine / Pitch noises. Again, it is under the specification, but we agreed it is annoying. so we had recalled those PSU ( total 12 PCS ) from selling Thousands units.

I purchased an MZ-03 in September. It was completely DOA. It was replaced quickly (thanks), but the replacement PSU fan makes an annoying noise that sounds like a rubbing bearing or something.

I sent two audio recordings to support, one as a baseline (PSU fan off) and one showing the problem (PSU fan on). Support agreed to replace the fan, but asked me to wait for inventory. A month went by and when I followed up, they said to wait 4 more days for inventory to arrive.

Then another 2.5 months went by during which time I made several attempts to contact support which were ignored. Finally, 3.5 months after they agreed to replace the fan support now says they can't hear any problem in the recording and will not replace the PSU/fan.

The product was also apparently assembled with little care. One of the USB daughter boards cables was pinched under two sections of the case that are screwed together, and was showing exposed wire when freed. One of the USB ports could not be used because the flap on one of the edges was folded inwards. I had to physically bend it back to allow a USB device to be connected to the port.

I was prepared to overlook the USB cord/port issues because it still technically works, but now that support has reneged on their promise to replace the annoyingly noisy PSU/fan, I am very disappointed with the quality of the unit(s) and the level of support.

@mrmachine, I (and many others) had the same issue with the PSU - they promptly replaced it without any proof so not sure why you are having a different experience. Bought in September, got the replacement somewhere in late December.

Also, I do not have such quality issues with the assembly. Sorry to hear that.

I would suggest you go out and just buy a better PSU anyway.

 

I've been having some random crashes (hang-ups) while connected to the enclosure. I have two laptops and it happens with both.

The crashes seem to be completely random as I can spend days without any, even though I use the enclosure everyday.

Anyone else having similar issues please let me know.

Yes, it is very disappointing. Support for the DOA issue was excellent. And I was pleased to hear they would replace the noisy PSU in the second unit. But very annoyed to have my follow ups ignored for months and then finally told there is no problem.

Was your replacement PSU any better, or did it also make the same annoying sound?

It is not extremely loud (volume), but it is very annoying. Very obvious during the day from 1m away even with the radio on listening to music when the PSU fan turns on. And very annoying at night when I am trying to sleep and can easily hear it from 4 meters away.
