@mrmachine, The replacement unit doesn't make the same annoying sound.

Agree that the sound is very annoying ... quite honestly, regardless of whether it's technically "within specs", is completely unacceptable noise to make! The sound was driving me insane and I had to have my headphones to be able to be in same room than the enclosure. I can't imagine you are trying to sleep in the same room ...

If you have some extra bucks, do yourself a favor and buy a Seasonic Focus GX PSU: it will fit perfectly, it's dead silent and it offers great performance. This is what I did regardless of getting a replacement PSU.

What would be the most silent replacement PSU that’s compatible?

@mymantiz_john & @itsage -- I hope you're both well.

My Saturn has been rock solid except for one issue. Lately, very randomly, my eGPU's Ethernet will just suddenly be unable to get an IP address (like, disconnect mid-ZOOM call or while streaming to Twitch and playing a game). I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps, but the only thing that seems to resolve it is a full computer restart (or unplug the eGPU, wait about 30s, then plug it back in).

Have you guys heard of anyone else experience issues like this? Any ideas?

Thanks!

That's what I ended up doing. Works great!

Now the only noise is the one coming from the enclosure fan that's constantly running - even when there is no load on the GPU.

Is that the way it is supposed to work? I thought it should switch off during light use?!

@francisco_olavo, Hey Francisco, I´ve had also random crashes like you 4-5 in one month always after recovery from sleep mode, since I've received the eGPU I´ve updated Catalina 2 times with last to security updates, problems started after the first update and looks like with the second one stability have improved just had one crash.

Don´t know what to think because 4-5 times in one month is not enough to find a pattern, the only think that I know the cause is on waking up the system and maybe last updates...

Like you I work with this computer everyday and I normally never disconnect the computer, but I'm developer with not much free time for gaming so GPU rarely reach more than 50% of usage fans are always stoped xD

Just remember that system always crashed a few seconds after unlock the system, enough time to move the mouse...

I agree, particularly in the difficulty of communicating with their support people.

But if anyone wants one, you're welcome to buy my new, unused/unopened unit (from an order that shipped after I cancelled it) and that I've given up on trying to get a refund for:
https://egpu.io/forums/for-sale-wanted/us-fsus380-ono-new-mantiz-saturn-pro-v2-egpu/

As for my story with Mantiz, here's part of it:
https://egpu.io/forums/thunderbolt-enclosures/order-refund-issues-with-mantiz-saturn-pro-ii-egpu/

I was never able to update that thread (or get a moderator to respond) as it was closed out on me for some reason, but here's the complete timeline of events in my attempts to deal with them:

@deleted, I've seen reports from you asking for removal of @mymantiz_john's post. You claimed the post violated GDPR Privacy policy. Can you specify what private information shown in this post?

@deleted,

We provide the WW warranty for 1 year. and we had provided the prepaid shipping label to you 5 days ago, welcome to drop the item with the free prepaid shipping label back to us to have a check. While we received the item, we will provide the test report for your reference. If there's any quality issue happened, we will pay for 2 ways Express shipping expense.

From a third person perspective, I'm confused as to what you are trying to accomplish. You wrote an article recommending people to stay away from buying the Mantiz Saturn Pro based on your personal experience. I read it twice on this forum and on Reddit. I failed to see what other technical issues you had with it besides the enclosure not powering on unless there's an active Thunderbolt connection. This is an expected behavior from Intel certification.

You mentioned you tried with multiple computers but did not disclose what they were. If you search in this forum and on the eGPU sub-Reddit, you will not find a more responsive support than Mantiz. This is not to say they are great at post-sale support. It's simply a sad state of tech support in general.

I'm not good at comprehending complex laws and regulations. If you believe your private data is mishandled, I'd be glad to remove your account and the response from Mantiz.

I didn't think there will be crybabies here. If you don't like the product return it, get a refund and be done with it. Too much fuss for measly change it's ridiculous!

@mymantiz_john

I have a lot of issues with my Mantiz Saturn Pro V2

The first one is the rest of USB controller every time I am doing a video call with my webcam, I tried the logitech Brio and the C920 and same result, the quality is very choppy/laggy and it randomly crashes all USB attached to the Mantiz.

The PSU fan is also suffering the noisy painful noise !!!

Finally I wrote to you thru your support mail and while I received fairly quick answer promising return label, one week later, still nothing...

I am expecting a better customer service I should say...

Thank you

O

PS: I do not understand you @hansoy_mot, As a customer, you have the right to receive support, and in this case I understand people who would not recommend a product due to the lack of support, as this part of the service you should receive with a product. When you spend money, you expect something functional and more than that, you expect answers to you mails...
In my case, I can't use the product, I replied to all I was asked but still no label... am I suppose to say the product is good?? Anyway, not trying to blur the topic, it would be a great product if only it would work...

1 Week later and an update... this is by far the worst customer support I have received in a long time. On paper the product is gorgeous but.... never run into an issue or you will face a wall of silence from the support.

First, they answer trying to understand, then the problem is not the product but how you use it (Applegate but Mantiz is not Apple...) then, they claims that the issue you're having is not an issue. Finally they propose a return label to the wrong address (yes, they do not even ask for your name and address, they just issue a return label... For the last several days, complete silence....

Basically, buy and pray to never run into issues because the company will do nothing to help and you'll only receive support from the community (they helped me with a lot of those)! but Mantiz, just wont take any responsibility or provide any help.

I would not buy again.
