VisionTek Mini eGFX Review - Mobility meets Utility
@Bryan lee Yes it works with the Apple Thunderbolt 3/USB-C to Thunderbolt adapter. You would need a software unlock (Purge-wrangler or automate-eGPU EFI) in order to use eGPU in macOS. The expansion port may only work in macOS.
Would anyone happen to know what the internal pins on the board are? Wonder if it is for USB.
Was thinking maybe we can mount an SSD inside this enclosure and have it plugged inside with a USB-SATA adapter.
@nutype, That's a nice idea. Unfortunately there's no information available on the mainboard.
I have been away for a while.
I am happily using my eGPU as a docking station with a 1050TI now, I used to have a 2060 Mini but I sold it with a PC about a year ago.
I have noticed some 3060 Mini showing up in my searches and I am curious if they would work in the enclosure.
There are multiple versions but here in the UAE it is impossible to get details and it may be difficult to return a card if it does not work.
Power envelope should be fine as it states that it draws 160/170 watts and that is similar to the 2060 (150/160).
Let me know if you have any ideas or have tried something.
