@omardesu If we all wait long enough, it may go down to $49.99! I think sub $70 for this Thunderbolt 3 NVMe M.2 adapter is well worth it. I also appreciate the responsiveness of their support in providing a firmware update.

@itsage So boycott until it goes down to $49.99 (i.e. no demand)?  I can be on board with that!  Worst case, if it goes to a higher price than $69.99, Amazon has it for $76.99...

With an NVME drive, I assume this enclosure is completely non-functional over USB? Or does it work, just at a lower speed?

I don't think that it needs to add some kind of thermal pad. The toolbox for my ADATA SSD shows 42° celsius and the maximum allowed has been set to 70° celsius.

It certainly gets warmer than 42 degrees in my case, pun intended.

Another question: Has anybody tried a WD Blue NVMe in this enclosure?

I cannot test this because all my USB-C ports are Thunderbolt but I think it will not. And I do not see the interest really when the equivalent enclosure in USB 3.1 Gen 2 is less than EUR/USD 30.

Did someone try this in combination with a TB3-to-TB2-Adapter to connect it to a TB2 Mac? Would you expect problems with the power supply or should this also work with the adapter?

Thinking about pairing it with a ADT-Link R43SG and would prefer it over a R43SG-TB3 to have the possibility to change the adapter in the future for the next TB.

EDIT: Figured out that you would need a not bus-powered NVMe M.2 to TB3 adapter which apparently doesn't exist <100$. Only devices able to host multiple NVMe drives are not bus-powered.

@itsage

Just got one of these units along with the Sandisk pro 1tb after seeing the performance figures.
wanting to use it on windows pc.  I have a gigabyte Titan ridge aic providing thunderbolt but no tb header on mb.  The TR can output fine to LG ultra fine 5k over TB, recognise usbc devices plugged in, and the UTE02 is also recognised in the thunderbolt control center, where it can be set always connect.

Problem that I have is that the nvme drive isn’t recognised, doesn’t appear in disk management to format etc..

Orico tb3 enclosure acts in exactly the same way, and even tried a Evo 970 plus 2tb nvme drive in both with same behaviour.

I saw on other posts that you had a TR card in a windows PC, so are you able to see if it works for you?

anyone else validate that this is possible?

@joevt - would this be a tb tunnelling issue??

@bigmikeuk, The GC-Titan-Ridge AIC needs to be FW 23 and cold-boot. Hot-plug doesn't work on my system.
