So i upgraded my laptop to pop-os 20.10 (with kernel 5.8) and now i cant get my egpu with an amd 5500xt to work at all.  before i was making it work my removing and re installing the amdgpu module.  That no longer works because it says the module is in use.  anyone have any advice?

I've never been able to remove the amdgpu driver while the display manager is running. The only way I've found to remove or reload it is to stop the display manager.

@nu_ninja, tried that, it didn't work. stopped gdm3 first and then plugged in the cable.
