I'm currently using a Lenovo X1 7th gen with ubuntu 19.10,  a Razor Core X with a 2060 GPU. I'm in the market for buying another one for my office.

With the Razor Core X I'm plugging in two cables: One thunderbolt cable and one for my usb hub.

I've read multiple reports of the enclosures with usb ports being flaky under load. What are your experiences?

Ideally I would like to plugin in just one cable.

@roland Your best bet is to get an eGPU enclosure with dual Thunderbolt 3 controllers, one to host the eGPU and the other hosts expansion ports. Razer Core V2, Core X Chroma, PowerColor/VisionTek mini eGFX are the options available.

Thank you for the information and your reply.

It seems that the problems @radiantsync had with the Core X Chroma are still there.

@roland

You are right. I have a 5700xt with the Core X Chroma. And for a few times, when the machine is under heavy load, my mouse stopped moving.

Pending: Add my system information and expected eGPU configuration to my signature to give context to my posts

Thanks to everybody who chimed in. I'll mull it over this week. It'll probably be an enclosure without the extra ports.
