Ubuntu 19.10 + egpu with hybrid Graphics
I have a Dell Precision 5340. I've tried everything I can find to make this work in 19.10 (which I need for other reasons). No matter what I do, including running the 19.04 script, the egpu is recognized but not used. The script just crashes on boot saying that it can't load the device.
Anyone able to make this work?

@johngatl1717 Which graphics card are you using? I tried my Mantiz Venus + RX 5700 XT just now and was able to make it work with egpu-switcher script. I’m using POP!_OS 19.10 because of built-in Nvidia to Intel graphics switching. I always run my Alienware 13R3 with the GTX 1060 dGPU disabled to have maximum battery life. Keep in mind while the AMD drivers in this version support Navi cards, Ubuntu 19.10 hasn’t yet contained firmware binaries to enable RX 5700/XT. Phoronix has instructions to enable them.
It’s the same with my Alienware 13 R3. The BIOS gives very few options. I tried different distros and found Pop!_OS to be the most compatible for my laptop (mostly Ubuntu with a few tweaks). There’s an option in top Menu to switch between Nvidia dGPU and Intel iGPU (restart needed for this switch). I’d recommending giving it a try and see if it helps getting the GTX 1070 eGPU work for you.
