Hello,

I am new to this and I do not know is the question that follows has an answer.

I have an oldish workstation (dell t7610) which has 4 x16 with 16-lane electrical pci-3 slots.

I cannot fit into this 4 double-width gpus. Also, due to inadequate air flow, the ones i can fit, quickly overheat. It seems some external arrangement is needed using risers. One needs to find the means to mount them and connect them thru 4 relative short (~22cm)  x16 risers. Is there anything ready-made or artisanal that would allow connecting four gpus at full x16 speed to the separate slots?

Btw, for the time being the gpus are amd r9 280x used for doing double precision calculations for a physics project.

Thanks

@q72kf

The easiest way would be to buy an external graphics card bay designed for mining and run 4 PCIe X16 extension cables. These are readily available on AliExpress:
