Everything ok here, Catalina 10.15.3 (new beta some day ago). But... 32bit apps doesn't work anymore, my MBP is the 13" with Touchbar late 2016 I boot Windows Bootcamp installed locally but with an external USB stick..

I have an updated file image of my MBP (made by Macrium free) for ev. rollback. Keep attention only to the BIOS...

Apple can’t even tell you what will happen to your eGPU in Bootcamp post-upgrade, major or seemingly minor. Or won’t. Apple is keeping their hand on that light switch. 😂

If your current Bootcamp is working really great - you are already a deity walking amongst common people. 😉

I don’t know why I would want anything to change. 😀

The 50th Anniversary Edition is just out of stock 😔

But I found the Radeon Pro W5700 is available...so😉

The only question is when Catalina could support it?

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

Huh...you don't want to wait a few days? 😦 So you can tech-lust after the Navi 2.0, aka "Big Navi" cards? Like the rest of your friends here at eGPU.io?

Don't miss out. Fun is fun! 😆

Hehe, I am waiting the Blackmagic Pro2 upgraded to 7nm Navi card.

A W5700 is just a try for my first egpu LoL

happy new year

for the razer core x which 5700 xt aib card would you recommend for silent operation of course a second oc bios would be a plus? I am considering the nitro+ or red devil, although I like more the normal power color one mentioned in one of the comments above.

Both the Nitro+ and Red Devil are solid choices. I personally went with the Red Dragon, which can be a bit loud at load but I liked the aesthetic.

And happy new year!

Thank you

I have the option to get the nitro special edition for the same price as the standard one do you think it makes sense to got for it or shall I stick to the standard one. I have not found any reviews of it anywhere so I am not sure if noise levels are different from the standard one.

Finally, could you play racing games like Forza , Dirt Rally etc 4k at 60 fps wiht these cards at ok settings ? Or we are not there yet and I am asking too much?

sorry for my ignorance but I am really bad about gaming I use the setup primarily for work. The reason I ask is as I can not test gaming at work and I am considering whether it makes sense to upgrade to a 32" 4k monitor for home or stick with my wide 2560 x 1080 29" monitor.

Best

Hi

What are the advantage of a 5700 over a Vega 64, excepted obviously power consumption ?

I get similar score with my Vega 64 under th 10.15.3 beta

Best wishes for the new year

MBP 2018, Touch Bar, i7 2.6 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 1T SSD, Radeon 560X... very nice!

It appears that video decoding/encoding is faster on the Vega 64 than 5700.
But if you do video there’s no need to put that much of weight into it.
