@cgwerks, Agree. The RTX 2060 Super FE in one of my setups is very efficient and requires only one 8-pin PCIe power connector.

@itsage, hey guys can help me how you guys were able to connect multiple egpu dirrctly to your desktop without opening the gaming box?

Cos your mobos have thunderbolt ports to connect them is it?

TIA

@joshuaind, Yes, through Thunderbolt 3 ports. There are many motherboards now with on-board Thunderbolt. If your board doesn't have it, you can add the GC-TITAN-RIDGE add-in-board.

@itsage, alright! Thanks.

Also can i just check, will the mobo or windows read the gaming box if i just connect it thru usb type c? Cos bandwitdth wouldn't matter for mining, just want to check it will be recognized

@joshuaind, No, Thunderbolt eGPU needs a Thunderbolt connection to work.

@dregpu, how did you get more than one egpu to work in bootcamp? I'm able to get one 5700 up and running nicehash miner but windows wont allow me(resource error 12) to add a second 5700 no matter what I try it seems. Btw I'm using a 2017 mbp. Windows 1903 v1, sonnet break away puck rx5700, nicehash miner. Should I try to find a decent mac mini or something that can handle more egpus?

There’s a fix for error 12 that is detailed on this site. Try googling it? A couple of years ago, I had 2 1080 eGPU’s connected to a 2018 MBP, but that was all under Mojave. I just sold my Mac Pro and other than my iPhone, I’m Apple-free. Hottake: Apple seems to hate their professional customers who aren’t media pros.

@dregpu, The iPhone is what keeps many Mac users in the ecosystem. I'm trying to break free from it but have not found a reasonable solution. Please let me know if you have some options you're considering.

@jdouxby Dual Nvidia eGPUs in Boot Camp can work without much effort. Dual AMD eGPUs would require some workarounds. Your 2017 MacBook Pro has Large Memory allocation already so your next step is to disable components that you don't need in Windows. Is it a 15" MBP? If so try disabling the PCIe x16 Controller to the dGPU. Also try disabling one of the PCIe controllers to the side of Thunderbolt 3 ports you don't use. For mining, bandwidth is not as crucial so you can connect two eGPUs to the same sided TB3 ports. My personal recommendation is to use Nvidia cards. They are easier to set up and run much more efficient.

@DrEGPU, Yeah I'm probably about to do away with all my apple products at this point too lol.

@itsage, It is a 13in 2017 MBP with only two tb3 ports on the left side and then a headphone plug in on the right side. What should I disable? I went into device manager and view resources by connection, then disabled the pcie root port #10 - 9D19 (Camera connection I believe?) and that got my first amd egpu to run via hot plug on windows 1903v1 bootcamp. Which else should I disable?

@jdouxby, Unfortunately there's not a whole lot more you could disable.
