I cant get 5012X high resolution trying different methods so I am going to buy an EGPU. Does anyone know with this monitor which ones would be suited for me? Has anyone had success. I'm just looking for a very clear screen with light gaming. Nothing special..

Thanks for the help.

@newtoallthis, I'd recommend trying SwitchResX. Did you use USB-C to DisplayPort cable? HDMI connection in macOS is no good in my experience.

I'm trying that solution next. I already ordered the cable. I have a few different issues with different cables and configs. I have tried them all except the solution you are suggesting.

It seems like I cant get the resolution in high quality that I want. I'm going to go with a EGPU. Thanks for your suggestion however.

Any working AMD eGPU will work with the display.

I think Apple has fixed the single connection 4096 width limit on Intel Kaby Lake but not Coffee Lake graphics in macOS Big Sur beta (I want to see more confirmations with different Intel graphics). Maybe they'll fix our Coffee Lake later so we can do 5120x1440 also?
