Hello!
I'm so messed up with an eGPU  choosing... All the built configurations include Windows installation but I'm afraid it will slow down or spoil my Mac.
Is there a no-expensive way  without Windows 10 for  MacBook Pro 13'' mid 2018 ??

Thank you in advance!

What??! Both statements are very far from being remotely true.

I think the lad is struggling with English here, I’m guessing he’s Greek? My Greek is non existent so he’s already got one up on me there... let’s cut him some slack.

I think he’s asking what cheap eGPU he could get for macOS only, he doesn’t feel comfortable installing windows as he fears it could impact his macOS install (it doesn’t).

I think?

If they allow sales to Russia, I have the gigabyte RX580 gaming box that worked after using purgewrangler and purgenvda on osx 10.13.6 but as Oliver said, if I'm not techie I should try it and probably shouldn't recommend anything.

You can tell the story about your own build and that you could or could not get it work. But you cannot make a "blanket statement", that something does not work at all only because you couldn't get it to work.

@nick_alex_phirsaquoff For your system, you can set up eGPU hack-free if you go for an AMD RX 560 or better + TB3 enclosure. I am not sure how the market is in Russia, but if my wallet is on a diet, I would look into the used market. The 560 itself will likely be cheap, but enclosures can get expensive. Perhaps refer to the Buyer's Guide for a wide range of choices for TB3 enclosures.

OliverB, I wrote a reply about not getting it to work. Razer told me 100% it would not work, that was the first thing out of the guy's mouth. You have Razer X so I don't know what you know. If you have a solution that would be fantastic to share. The other guy said he had it working and I am first to admit newbie here.... so please teach me instead of mocking me.

of course we want to help you and get it to work. (PS: Sorry, didn't want to mock you)

Which exact setup do you have?
-Razer Core V1?
-AMD RX 580?
-MacOSX 10.13.6?
-TB3 MacBook model..? Which exact MacBook do you have?

Pretty much the cheapest option without going crazy would be what I have linked to my TV - a Node Lite with an RX 560 inside. I bought the Node Lite second hand for £150 and the 560 with amazon vouchers but you could find a second hand one of them too for prob £75.

Its not particularly powerful, and there are no real upgrade options (yet - Navi?), and finding things second hand can be a struggle but that’s the absolute cheapest.
What may be better if you don’t mind the size of it is a normal Akitio Node, second hand, then an RX 570 which is a fair bit more powerful but not much more expensive and easily found on eBay.

there is also the possibility to pair an Akitio Node Lite with an RX570 and an Dell 220W PSU. But you get a little Frankenstein monster because of the PCIe power connectors. Nothing for beginners.

@oliverb oh aye, I actually did something very similar with a 1060 but I found the Dell PSU's big, ugly and prone to failure and the custom Kareon cables very very fragile. I'm currrently waitign on Navi (have I mentioned that before?) before I decide on whether to switch back to Nvidia for an easier instal (no Error 12) and boot (looking at a 2070 for primary and 1650ti for secondary in this Node Lite).
