Hello folks!

I followed the eGPU topic for quite a while now and finally decided to dive right into it. I recently purchased the 13" 2020 MBP 4-TB3 model. The RTX 2060 Super OC is sitting next to me waiting for the Razer Core X enclosure to arrive.

Basically the last thing I'd need to purchase is a stand for the MBP. My question is, however, which kind of stand is optimal regarding thermal performance:

1) a vertical stand with the MBP lid closed like this one

2) a horizontal raised stand with the MBP lid open like this

What are your experiences using any of those and did you encounter any issues with using a MacBook Pro at high CPU load for a long time?

Thank you!

I have the Twelve South Bookarc vertical stand and have had no thermal issues whatsoever with it.  In fact, I have it on top of my Razer Core X due to space constraints, which is probably less than optimal due to the heat rising from the Core X, but still haven't had any thermal issues.

Thank you. Twelve South is certainly one of the best looking ones! Does the stand interfere with the ventilation slot behind the hinge? Or do you place the laptop upside down?

I have it vent-side down, and the Bookarc blocks a very small percentage of the exhaust vent, maybe 10% of it.  No problems though.

That's all I needed to know. It shall be a vertical stand then. Thanks again!
