Hi there,

I'm trying to understand if is possible to build a very price convenient setup like that:

  1. Avoid TB3 (too pricey)...looking for M.2
  2. Maintain the wifi card
  3. Use and affordable (not last gen) second hand business small laptop, something before 2017 and around 400-600€

Keeping the wifi card is for me essential. I'm not buying a laptop for keeping it on the desktop forever, I want to be able to use the laptop as intended: a mobile machine. I don't mind to cut the case somewhere in order to put the cables and build something plug&play

I spent some hour searching for this kind of solution but I'm not sure is feasable...can someone give me a suggestion?

Should I look for laptop with  2nd M.2 (like the Latitude 7480 - E5470 - E5550 - E7250 )  and specifically for a WWlan m.2 nvme?

EDIT: here I founded an extensive list of dell M.2 / NVME Specifications but it's a bit old (2016)

In the end I've decided for a Dell Latitude 5480/5580,  is thunderbolt 3 capable but also have M.2 nvme slot and ssd so I would like to try using a M2 connection

There is something should I know or look about compatibility issues before trying this attempt?
