Hi all,

i need help, now i have Macbook Pro 13 2018 with Nvidia 1080 aorus gaming box. I play games on Boot camp w10 and now i have problems with fps. My mac have only 8gb ram, this is bottleneck for new titles, i know...

My question is: when i will buy Macbook Pro 15, is there better performance of tb3 for graphic card? Or it will be same? I read some articles but i didnt saw any benchmarks 🙁

thx for help..

Why don't you post some benchmarks of yours, so we can see if there is something wrong? Use a synthetic benchmark or one of a well known game.

Roughy guess- your set up is not performing correctly or your expectations are overly ambitious. As Oliver said post some benchmarks... I have a few in my guides on a 2017 MacBook, with your set up you should get a fair bit more FPS wise.

2017 13" MacBook Pro Touchbar + [email protected] (AKiTiO Thunder3) + Win10
2017 13" MacBook Pro Touch Bar + [email protected] (Sonnet Breakaway Box) + Win10

2017 13" MacBook Pro Touch Bar + GTX1070 (debating 2070 upgrade) @32Gbps-TB3 (Razer Core V1) + Win10

2017 13" MacBook Pro Touch Bar + Vega 56 @32Gbps-TB3 (Razer Core V1) + Win10 & macOS 10.14+

FPS problem on MacBook Pro may not due ram, if you’re playing normally not on 4K or maybe 1440p, not doing steaming or vr, or maximize all setting (you can check ram usage with afterburner on screen display to check if it used a lot ram or not), 8gb ram is enough for gaming, but for video editing, streaming it’s different story. It is maybe due thermal throttling, check your cpu temperature, I don’t have MacBook egpu setting but on ultrabook cpu, this happens often, to keep smooth FPS, I’ve to undervolting the cpu and using g sync/adaptive g sync capable monitor on my ultrabook egpu setting, and it’s same 8gb ddr3 ram, only FFXV 1440p use a lot shared ram memory since this titles even almost maxed 1080ti 11gb vram usage, and start to interrupt Laptop ram, lowering to 1080p solved the problem.
