Hey!
I am new to this forum and just wanted to make sure if I am making the right purchase. I wanted to get an RTX 2070 for deep learning, I know that Nvidia hasn't released any drivers for RTX cards on Mac OS yet but can it work on Linux in Bootcamp? Has anyone tried? Do you think it's a good purchase or should I stick to 1080 which is supported on Mac Right now?
Thanks!

A 1080 isn't going to work in macOS if you're on 10.14 Mojave, but the RTX 2070 should be plug and play in Linux (for compute applications)

Thank you so much for that information. That Linux setup is on a thinkpad, Bootcamp shouldn't make a difference right?

Googling around it seems like there might be some issues unrelated to the egpu setup that might be worth considering.
In terms of egpu setup, I haven't seen anyone try an AMD dgpu + nvidia egpu on linux so that would be your biggest unknown.

Alright thanks! This will help me out. Also lastly, RTX 2070 does it fit in Akito Node?

The 2080 does not fit inside, not sure of the difference when it comes to the 2070 and 2080.

I think a 2070 or 2080 should fit if its a double-width card and not a wider one like this. You can check the dimensions of the card versus the measurements on akitio website
