Hi guys!

I have just one laptop I use for work but I want to make eGPU to play games at weekends... If I unplug, the laptop will work without external card or all installation was made will cause a error?

I'm totally noob and not much at hardware thing so, sorry if is a stupid question and thanks in advance for your help.

You can disconnect from the eGPU and the laptop will continue to work fine.

Some programs, like games, that are running on the GPU will crash if you disconnect it while they are open (they suddenly lose all of their assets stored on the GPU!) but there's no permanent change to anything on your laptop by just connecting an eGPU.

If you are using an NVIDIA card and have their drivers installed, a little application down by the clock in the system tray you can click on will show any programs running on the GPU, so you can see what might close when you disconnect. You can just re-open anything that closes after you disconnect and it will work fine.

@arokha, thank you very much!!

I can't find this answer anywhere and I searched a lot!

You said all I wanted to hear, because I only have time for games at weekend and I think it's not necessary the aditional hardware for the common work use.

Cheers!!
