Yes, that HP Spectre x360 is 4 lanes and GT4, but get the Yoga 920.

A reason behind this statement? 😀

Check them both out in store, reviews, or look at any hands on comparison online about them.  The general preference is towards the Yoga 920 (I got the 8gb ram and 256gb ssd for $1149), but I almost got the Spectre x360 16gb ram 512 ssd for $999 black friday deal instead except they were out of stock because I didn't order online and didn't want to wait in line Thursday.  In any case don't get the 4k screen.

From my understanding the benefits of the Yoga 920 are:

More battery life, higher quality hinge and build quality in general, lenovo cools better so throttles less and less fan noise, the keyboard (centered and closer to screen giving more room for wrists) and touchpad (not wide) are better positioned, slightly bigger screen, HP is picky with third party chargers, and I believe the active pen is better.

Though there are some things the Spectre x360 is better at too.  And this is an awfully good deal for the HP Spectre x360:

The good about the HP Spectre is the cheaper price, volume rocker on side, finger print sensor on side, microsd slot, intel wifi card, option for built in privacy screen, and the dark ash silver/bronze color contrast looks good.

Unfortunately no surefire (outside way) other than someone testing it. Given there isn't an internal NVidia GPU and that it shares some innards with the x360, I'd guess it's likely that it's an x4, but confirmation from an owner would be still the best way.

My experience has been the rear TB3 port is the x4 that shows as unused (that's where I plug in my egpu). The front one I assume would be the x1.

Please note... I have the copper/dark ash x360, not the white one, implementation guide has been posted.

Hi, yes, I believe there is consensus about 13" x360 ones having x4 - I was just referring to the Spectre 13 @lightstrum mentioned, aka "T" Spectre (ie not x360 Spectre), which is a slightly different beast, with a slightly different port layout (has 3 USB-Cs, all from the rear side).

Ah... ok, I'm tracking now Smile

I spent some time negotiating with HP for the 13t in white or the 360 in silver ash. What I like about the 13t is that it is the smallest and lightest and beautiful, but more important it will power by the 3.1 input or one of the thunderbolt ones. The importance of this for me is leaving the two TB3 ports free or receiving power by tb3 when egpu'd. The 360 will not power through the usb port so only one TB3 free when plugged in. I want the 4k screen to view my video stuff. Loaded with 1tb ssd the 360 comes in under 1400, the 13t under 1800- they want a huge up charge for pretty and sleek. They did guarantee that the 13t in white is 4 lane.

perfect description. Actually I'm in Italy so that deal doesn't fit for me and there are no lenovo / spectre solutions available. I must wait for them actually... Grin

I would choose lenovo only for 0.6 inch more of screen. Grin Let's see if is it available.

The 8th gen quad core version, yes, but it is expensive.

My issue with Razer is that they don't apparently last. My Razer Blade Stealth 2016 started literally coming apart (the screws started falling out, and the chassis is slowly unzipping) less than a year after I bought it. And apparently that's fairly common.

So clearly I need to replace it... and I'm debating between a Spectre x360 15" 8th gen and a Lenovo Yoga and a Dell XPS 15
