Hello!

I just bought an Razer core x and now i'm wondering what graphic card I should buy. I want to play Warzone at max fps and want to use bootcamp and my internal display. What graphic card do you suggest I should buy?

Have you checked other builds?

Whats your budget?

Max FPS will be a 2080ti, but is that right for you? Who knows?

There is also Google if you want to know "best graphics card".

I tried this with the base model macbook pro 13" 2019 and must say that even with an RX580 the CPU is a huge bottleneck. Wouldn't recommend especially if you plan on playing the battle royale mode.

@eightarmedpet, Hello im thinking of buying the 2080 with the base model macbook pro 13 inch 2017. Do you think i will be able to play Call of duy and other games with decent fps while in boot camp?

@filip_filipes, The RTX 2070 Super is a great value GPU and fairly easy to set up for Boot Camp eGPU. If you're after good FPS, the internal display is not the best option.

I don't think so. I returned my Egpu setup after trying warzone. There was a huge difference in the standard multiplayer playlist (60/70 FPS @ 1080p) and warzone (40 ish FPS).

I didn't enjoy the experience.

@salih_ergezen are sure the CPU was the issue?

I went from 1050 > 1060 > 1070 > Vega 56 and saw big improvements in frames each time (well, not so much 1070 > Vega 56).

Your FPS sounds roughly what I would expect from a 580 as they are not the strongest of cards, a 2080 would be overkill for the base 13 inch though, as itsage said, a 2070 would be a good choice (even though it would defog be bottlenecked a bit).

@filip_filipe there is a wealth of information around egpu's and graphics cards on this site if you just dig a little and do some reading, why don't you try and do some research of your own rather than constantly screaming "wHaT cArD?! wIll wOrk?! y/N?! pLeAsE!!!". I'm guessing English isn't your native so understand there are challenges around that but these posts are lazy.

I was using the 2019 13" Base Macbook pro with Touch bar in combination with Razer Core X + RX 580

Warzone resulted in fairly substantial CPU usage (upwards of 80%). I do think FPS would have been better with a different GPU but there is not much headroom left on the CPU in this specific game. I tried some other games (control, borderlands etc) and in these cases the GPU was the limiting factor. That is why I mentioned the FPS difference in these smaller multiplayer maps vs the big warzone map.

Returning this thing because:

A. Whilst the configuration "works" I didn't find it stable and would see changes in FPS (especially when charging the laptop)

B. The Razer Core X is Huge (!!), the supplied TB3 cable length is a joke

C. Bootcamp and lack hot plugging kinda kills the whole idea of using the EGPU as a dock

D. Cost vs a dedicated setup is too high

In addition; I must admit, the setup guide provided on this website is excellent.

To add to my own post:

I returned the Razer Core X and build a system to accomodate the RX580. (ryzen 5 2600, otherwise all budget parts) and get around 80/90 FPS in the warzone maps.

To be honest, I'm wondering what the performance would be using a macbook with a slightly more capable CPU and or if others have the same experience as I did.
