Hi,

Just started looking into eGPUs and found this website which has been a great help in understanding a lot of things.

One point where I'm still kind of at a loss is comptaibility with devices.

In my case, I have an ASUS UX360UAK-BB326T. It has a 3.1 USB C port, which I understand is not Thunderbolt 3.

My question is: would a Razer Core X be compatible with my device if I use the HDMI from the Razer Core X to my monitor?

If it is compatible, would it simply slow down some stuff and not work as great? What would be the limitations?

Sorry if it's already been asked a dozen time but I couldn't really find a topic on that.

Thanks for your help !

@tsakal, thanks for your reply.

If you don't mind, is it simply a question of speed or technology?

Just trying to wrap my mind around the concept to understand why it would or not work.

Best

OK, so Thunderbolt 3 supports USB 3.1 technology, but USB 3.1 is unable to decode a Thunderbolt signal, is that correct?

@jfich, correct. USB 3.x doesn't do Thunderbolt. Thunderbolt 3 does do USB, DisplayPort, or Thunderbolt.

Mac mini (2018), Mac Pro (Early 2008), MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015), GA-Z170X-Gaming 7, Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 580 8GB GDDR5, Sonnet Echo Express III-D, Trebleet Thunderbolt 3 to NVMe M.2 case
