@results45, I'd probably just be keeping my TB3 eGPU, not interested in the gymnastics of modifications required for an m.2 eGPU. I just want something EXACTLY like the Gram 17 but a little more CPU performance.. basically a Gram 17 with Tiger Lake U, lol. XPS 17 is too heavy... everything else isn't a 17" or isn't 16:10.. super narrow band of laptops I'm willing to consider unfortunately.

LG Gram 17 | Sonnet Breakaway Box 550 | Asus Strix RTX 2070 OC Edition | Win 10 Pro 20H2 + Fedora 32 Dual Boot

2018 17" LG Gram 17 [8th,4C,U] + RTX 2070 @ 32Gbps-TB3 (Sonnet Breakaway 550) + Win10 [build link]

@odin, closest thing I can think of is the MSI Prestige 15, but that's a 15-incher 🙁

Hopefully next year's LG Gram 17 has either the Core i7-1165G7 or 1185G7.

Aforementioned Core i7s vs 14+++ counterparts Geekbench 4 Scores:

So if you're upgrading from an 8565U, you should be getting a 20% boost per core and a 30% boost when using all 8 threads 😎

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

It's unfortunate that they still have the 15W-28W range for the same CPU model. Of course I'm sure LG will just continue with the 15W config.

@odin, Well AMD and Intel define "TDP" differently:

Also, I believe there is a good amount of flexibility when it comes to sustained TDPs. Even at the rated sustained "turbo" TDPs of 15W, 28W, and 35W for Tiger Lake-U, the actual sustained TDPs in any given model can range between 15-20W, 26-30W, and 34-40W respectively. Same goes for power consumption at idle (3-5 watts).

As the title suggests, are there any laptops which are using Ryzen 4000 (and also 5000 in the future) CPU with at least 1 TB3/4 ports?

Also, does Ryzen 4000 CPU has built-in TB controller (since we all know how big of a difference it can be)?

Expected setup:
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 9
Gigabyte AORUS RTX 3080 Gaming Box
