Should I get Thunderbolt 3 or Thunderbolt 2 eGPU for my 2015 MacBook?

I'm new to all of this but would love to bump up my gaming power of the 2015 MacBook Pro and video editing power. Should I not consider a Thunderbolt 3 enabled eGPU due to a potential bottleneck?  If not, which Thunderbolt 2 options are recommended?

Mainly looking to stream/Fortnite with an external 4K monitor if possible.

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.

Get a Thunderbolt3 enclosure and the Apple TB-to-TB3 adapter. Since you can get an actual eGPU enclosure for 200$ the Thunderbolt2 options (of which there is really one commonly available, the AKiTiO Thunder2) which are in about the same price range and require modding to get working don't make much sense any more. You can also carry over the eGPU to a TB3 system later on.

Give your Node Pro a second Thunderbolt3 controller for reliable peripherals by re-using a TB3 dock (~50$).
