Using in MacOS exclusively. Playing games, like heroes of the storm, SC2, WoW. Would i get a big boost in FPS from this upgrade?

I will wait the incoming RX 5700 XT for my RX 480... 7th July it will be out on the market! I suggest to you to wait....
I wasn't so sure about it. It's still unclear when the RX 5700 XT will be supported by MacOSX and how good is this support. The Vega56 is well supported.

It will be supported... sooner or later.... AMD and Apple have an agreement about graphic cards.
Vega 56 is a great GPU and a big jump from 580. I would suggest this. RX 5700 is even better but no drivers yes.

Any chance there is a comparable graph for the RX 5700? I didn't see one in the slides on Anandtech.
No eGPU yet, but soon (hopefully)! I'm currently rocking a 13" NTB MacBook Pro (2016).
