I have a macbook pro 13" 2018 and an old Akitio Thunder2 + GTX 970,
I have had numerous problems with the enclosure, and eventually after some windows updates it stopped working.
Recently I got an offer for a heavily discounted Akitio Node Pro and thought maybe the switch to a TB3 would make a difference.
Whats your opinion?
Thanks in advance (:

.@matanos, The AKiTiO Node Pro is a very nice TB3 enclosure. You get 60W Power Delivery which matches your 2018 13-in MacBook Pro perfectly. Higher Thunderbolt 3 bandwidth helps with eGPU performance. The internal PSU and handle makes it a more complete enclosure vs AKiTiO Thunder2 and modified power adapter.

@itsage, Do you think the move the Thunderbolt 3 would make the experience better?

.@matanos, Absolutely. You will have charging from the the eGPU enclosure and a more reliable power supply arrangement.

+1 for get the Node Pro, am I wrong in thinking there will also be a notable performance increase going from tb2 > tb3?

@eightarmedpet, Most definitely. Loopback would see the most significant improvement. Data throughput is jumping from 1,400 to 2,700 MB/s.
