I’m an old 72 but new entrant into the world of eGPU add-ons for my 2017 MacBook Pro running bootcamp and Windows 10 (2004 build 19041.388).

I’ve looked at the buyer’s guide here on this great site, and read as much as I can about the error 12 situation and possible solutions.

I’d really like to add a Razer X Chroma with a good Radeon card (Vega 64?) to my machine, as I enjoy some simulation software that needs a lot more graphics power than is built internally into my machine.

I know enough technically to be dangerous, so I’m worried about buying a setup that requires serious programming to get working, although I think I could follow well written step-by-step instructions.

So, my question is … for compatibility and ease of setup and install, what graphics card would anyone recommend I buy to add to the Razer X Chroma.

Second… I’m already well into using Windows 10 with several complete applications installs, so I have no idea how to retrofit (downgrade) back to just the operating system build 1903 while maintaining all of by data etc.

Finally, given what appears to be a real mess with all this, should I just give up on the idea of using an eGPU with my bootcamp install until Apple or MS fixes it, or even forget about it altogether?

Thanks for any feedback…

Regards,
Doug

There are 19 builds with your Macbook using an AMD eGPU in bootcamp, the newest one one month old. Consider reviewing these to help answer your queries:
