@eightarmedpet, after removing all AMD drivers, which drivers from bootcampdrivers should I use?

I'm currently trying April 2020 Red edition but was never certain on which one would be best for my setup.

@chynk, I'm afraid I have no idea about that... no direct experience with your MacBook.

@eightarmedpet, this really does feel like throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. It’s burdensome knowing if I try different drivers it might not even make a difference. Resulting in trying something completed unrelated to the issue

@chynk, If you have no need for the dGPU in Windows, I'd recommend trying the original drivers from AMD website rather than the modified drivers from bootcampdrivers.com. Look for Radeon driver version 20.4.2 as I've found it to be the best for eGPU performance.

@itsage, for whatever reason I thought bootcampdrivers was the only way to get things to work.

I'll go ahead and run DDU once again and try Radeon driver version 20.4.2

Thanks

I'll report back with my findings

@chynk, An advantage of the modified drivers from bootcampdrivers.com is that you can run both Radeon dGPU and eGPU with one set of drivers. This is different than Apple supplied Boot Camp drivers which only support Mac dGPUs and original AMD Radeon drivers which only support eGPUs. Error 43 can be due to driver conflicts or power issues so using the original drivers can at least give you an idea whether it's software or hardware related.

@chynk, What is the error code in the second Microsoft Basic Display Adapter? This is more likely not a driver conflict issue because there's no drivers at this stage and the installer couldn't identify a normal/standard Radeon card. You were able to installed the modified Radeon drivers because that installer didn't check compatible cards.

@itsage

This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

The driver trying to start is not the same as the driver for the POSTed display adapter.

I was unaware a bang during this stage was uncommon?

Good day. I am pretty new to EGPU. I just heard lately about it. The issue was that I had no clue that GeForce MX150 will give such horrible performance that I won't be able to play simple games. Anyway. Can anyone advice what kind of EGPU will match my Acer Swift Notebook with Geforce MX150 and 8 core I7-8565U CPU with 12 GB installed for games like CS:GO, FIFA 2021, PES 2021 and corresponding games. I would like to have a performance around like Geforce 1060 3GB or 8GB

Thank you in advance

To do: Create my signature with system and expected eGPU configuration information to give context to my posts. I have no builds.
