[Solved] To future eGPU users — do your homework first!
@boltoway, as i've said in my previous post, yes, generation 11 intel processors will have
--> integrated thunderbolt 4 controller for the Tiger Lake mobile processors
--> separate controllers for the desktop Rocket Lake processors
I think even with the separate controller the situation will be improved.
I'll post the articlle that states all of the above again here:
I'll have a desktop intel gen11 processor inside the laptop so it should use the external controller.
Heya, could you experts inform me, "Asus XG Station Pro" is still a good enclosure to buy? I found a good deal over Core X but I have noticed it has bit older Firmware compare to core x (in this forum's buyer guide). Do I have to worried about it? Thanks in advance.
@alone1i, I got one last year, it's done me well. I am using it for VR and it's very servicable.
I tried a razer chroma first but it was too loud. The XG station is dead silent in idle because of the external PSU.
Drawbacks are that it doesn't provide any real power to host and can only handle about 300w of GPU. In practice this hasn't been much an issue for me, the bottlenecks inherent in eGPU keeps even my 3070 from its peak wattage except in benchmarks.
I ended up swapping the fans for one noctua and now it's even more quiet.
I don't think there will be much progress in eGPU enclosure performance until there is a new standard that increases bandwidth/PCI lanes.
did anyone tried to connect ADT-Link R43SG-TB3 to THINKPAD E15 Gen 2 with 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4
can I connect this to my laptop? My laptop having a thunderbolt 4 compitability.
I have an OMEN 15-en0000 (1C099AV) Laptop, because for a laptop with a Ryzen processor to output from the tunderbolt output (link) only USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 SuperSpeed.
Is it possible to somehow retrofit the laptop externally or internally the tunderbolt output (link)? I read something about EXP GDC adapters, Mini PCIe and M.2 variants, but I don't really understand how it works or works.
Are there any other ways? I am not a computer scientist, I do not know computers and I am not fluent in English. The target is audio discrete for audio playback which is Tunderbold 2 (Anttylope audio discrete core synergy core) output. can I ask you for help?
Hello, im new here. Sorry my english is Not so good 🥺, but i decidet to buy a Razer Core X , an original Apple TB2-TB3 Adapter, 2m original Apple TB2 kabel. I want to buy a R9 270x GPU to use ist in the Razer Core x. Ist it possible? I dont want to buy a RX or RTX card, Because it is to expensive for my old System.
i m very glad if anyone can help me …

Hello! i'm from brazil, and i want to make my eGPU build too, i want it to look cool haha. I have a Dell XPS 13 (it has two thunderbolt 4-lanes) and i want to display it on three 2160x1920@165hz monitors. With the Dell wd19tb Thunderbolt dock, i connect every peripheral straight into the thunderbolt port, thus switching from the "table" to the "portable" mode with a single cable (which is nice).
I believe i can daisy-chain the thunderbolt port of the Dock into a TB3 eGPU, or any alternative whatsoever
But, my options are limited, since i can't easily buy an eGPU here.
- I can import the Razer X Core, but it's going to cost almost the same price to build a PC, with great CPU, 32gb RAM etc, so it's too expensive to consider it.
- I can wait, until i luckily come across one of the recommended purchases, like the Anikito or Asus eGPU dock, which, while still rather expensive, are at a not-so-ridiculous price;
Or i can do a gambiarra, which is, get a TB3_2_NVME adapter, and a NVME_2_GPU adapter, and chain them.
The point is: which one?
I have too many options of the first adapter, TB3_2_NVME, and i do not know which specs to assess whether it works or not, nor to define the effectiveness:
Even less the NVME to GPU:
So how do i find the correct adapters?
Also, considering i'm using a wd19tb Dock, is there alternatives, like repurposing the DVI port, or the USBs ports, into something that supports an eGPU?
Other info i could really use is the experience of any other dude from brazil that has already bought/imported an eGPU box, so i could do the same, and avoid any further gambiarrations.
Hello everyone i have a dell precision 5510 with a i7 6820hq and a Nvidia quadro M1000M dGpu , and i want to give it a little more power when i work by installing an EGPU , the problem is that TB3 enclosures are too expensive for me , so i decided to go with M.2 slot , so what should i buy ?
what is the chance that my computer will be compatible ?
and what are the GPU compatibility on it ?
Almost any NVMe to PCIe solution work work. Use the following thread for examples:
