Best Laptops for eGPU - June 2020 Thunderbolt 3 Laptop Buyer's Guide
Hey I have an Xps 13 8th gen i5 8250u with 8GB of ram and I’m looking to get an EGpu probably with an Rx 590 or 1660 ti inside of it. If I’m running fortnite on all low settings, how many frames am I looking at? Does anyone have an xps 13 with an eGpu and play fortnite?
do you have any update for the newest laptop with intel core I gen 10? and any update with new technology to be compatible with thunderbolt 3.
dGPUs will use 8 or 16 CPU PCIe lanes. They usually have x16 total CPU lanes. If the dGPU uses only 8, then the other 8 can be used for NVMe or Thunderbolt. The PCH has more lanes (like 20) but they are bottlenecked by the DMI link (4 lanes).
The Razer Blade Stealth mentioned in the article is the 2018 version, right?
Can anyone confirm that the 2019 version with the i7-1065G7 also has 4x PCIe 3.0 lanes over TB3 + OPI 4GT/s?
Wonderful articles. I'm interested in going eGPU route instead of desktop. That being said are there any 2xTB3 laptops other than ThinkPad 1 and Apple? I've been trying to find a laptop with possibly newer 8 core cpu that I could expand with 2 graphics cards for rendering purposes.
@lazar_kacarevic, Are you asking for 2x Thunderbolt 3 controllers/buses or ports? There are plenty of laptops with 2x Thunderbolt 3 ports. 2x Thunderbolt 3 controller laptops are much harder to find.
Hi Ryan, did you manage to integrate 1080ti with your hp spectre folio 13? If so, do you mind to share your build? I have a hp spectre folio as well, and I have a 1080ti with me. I'd like to integrate it as eGPU but not sure how to do that.
