Hello I have a MacBook Pro but I downloaded windows using bootcamp basically if I want to play games. I play them on low settings most games my laptop can run. I don’t want to have any type of high end gaming but I do want to upgrade my graphics when playing games because some games my laptop can’t even run on low settings without lag. So bottom line I’m looking into getting a EGPU and I’m looking for advice for which one I should get that is good but affordable under $300. Again I have a MacBook Pro but to play games I use windows downloaded from bootcamp which is great. I have a MacBook Pro 13.3 inch (mid 2012) 2.9 GHz intel core i7 8 GB Ram and the graphics card in there is intel HD 4000. So in conclusion I don’t want to have any type of high end gaming experience I just want to be able to play my games fluently and I want advice for what EGPU to buy that is good but affordable under $300 for my MacBook that has windows on it from bootcamp

  1. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0161ZDIEC/
  2. Link for the laptop that I have and can you give me like 3-5 options under $300 or even lower if possible but I know EGPUs are expensive

I have the same model and processor with an RX 460 running external display. Most games are still GPU limited except some more CPU heavy games like CS:GO. I'd say a 1050ti is a good match in terms of performance.

Cool, thanks. I’ll be getting the 1050 ti and thunder 2, my last question would be what power adapter cord do you recommend me to get?

If you're in the US I'd recommend 12vAdapters.com for a reasonably priced UL listed power supply. Otherwise you'd have to look on amazon or something for a 12V 10A power adapter with 5.5mm x 2.5mm barrel plug.

I managed to power mine without the need to switch the PSU, and have heard reports of others being successful in doing so too...

GTX1070 + Sonnet Breakaway Box + Win10
GTX1070 + Razer Core V1 + Win10
Vega 56 + Razer Core V1 + macOS + Win10
Vega 56 + Mantiz Venus + macOS + W10

Aktion Node Thunder 2 with a GTX1050Ti and some bigger PSU seems to be a very nice, little egpu.

Does anyone know if there are boot problems (aka delayed egpu detection) with the Thunder2? Some TB2 MBPs can't boot with an TB3 nVidia eGPU plugged in, like mine 13-inch 2015, for example.

Really? I heard the thunder 2 has a weak power supply

I ordered the thunder 2 GTX 1050 ti, but is there any other places besides 12vadpaters.com I looked at it's reviews and it has bad reviews doesn't seem trustworthy.

is this PSU good
