06/10/2023 System is working Again Turns out the cable from wifi card to dock was broken. Re ordered a new dock and cable just incase and my system & eGPU working well together working again.
Hello everyone
I was able to successfully get my old Hp pavillion dv6 with AMD A8 3520 processor. to work with eGPU Nvidia GT 1030
New Guide
0. UPDATE bios to latest provided by HP web site for this lap top (roughly 2011/2012 date).
1. DO NOT use windows drivers for this lap top chipset or video card 6620g.
2. Download your Video card drivers from hp website ( this is your chipset and video card drivers) Link: https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54992.exe
3. You must not be connected to internet from here on out ( windows will try to update your drivers if you are when you log in)
3. log into lap top and uninstall and click delete the drivers box for your display adapter in your device manager.
4. Install the drivers you just downloaded (the hp video card drivers in setp 2) express install. (No idea why this work i believe it has drivers for my wifi card that work and let bios use the pci slot once wifi card is removed.)
5. reboot lap make sure to enter bios.
6. Make sure Network boots is enabled. You can find it under boot options.
7. Change the boot order how you like EXCEPT network boot must be LAST. save you setting restart and lap top.
8. You Must wipe the video drivers from you lap top now. I used the AMD unstill Utility in safe mode. I followed up with DDU Software in safe mode.
9. Shut down lap top
10. Removed my wifi card from the lap top.
11. Connected the Pcie version of Exp Gdc eGPU dock to my lap top. slide the card with cable attached into the mini pcie slot and screwed it into place. ($50 from newegg)
12. cut a small slot in the cover that goes over the bottom of my lap top to match where the cable will be exiting other wise you will not be able to snap this cover closed.
13. DO NOT INSERT VIDEO CARD YET INTO DOCK
14. connected the end of cable you just connected to eGPU dock. its a hdmi cable slot on the dock.
15. Used a 450W power supply and connected using the adapters came with dock. ($50 Best Buy)
15. You can turn on lap top now and dock should light up green. log into windows and then shut down.
16. Connected my new Nvidia GT 1030 graphic card into the dock. lk($150 from new Egg site)
17. Connect hdmi cable from external monitor to video card in dock hdmi slot.
18. When you power up the lap top the Cap locks key will blink on and of twice and the computer screen should go black.
19. The external monitor will now turn and you will see windows splash and log in shortly.
20. You should have your Nvdia drivers download onto a thumb drive using another computer. use these to update your Nvidia GT 1030 card.
Hope this helps some one.
incase of
ERROR 43
9. install nvidia-error43-fixer
** My GT 1030 is recognized and used by my lap. I can play New World with 20 FPS in crowded city like windsward or everfall. THis is vast improvement to my built in video card on my processor.

UPDATE:
This build is no longer working. After a few win 10 updates the eGPU is now always grayed out and only seen in the show hidden option in device manager.
1) have tried full wipe and reinstalling from back ups before i install the eGPU. Then following same steps and still will not work.
2) Hot plugging crashes the pc
3) AMD chip so cannot use that special program you can donate for.
4) I tried multiple time to start with wifi card in place then reboot and take out wifi card and add the eGPU no luck.
5) I have tried to start with wifi card in place boot into computer sit 5 min. Shutdown take out wifi card connect the eGPU cable only and booted in. Connect to eGPu scan for hardware changes not detected.
6) wifi card in place booted in update bios when system shutdown change to eGPU. restart system it crashes on start up saying problem with bios like the board battery little round one was not there.
Any suggesttion would be appriciated.

Suggest create a Ubuntu Live USB stick, boot it and see if the Nvidia eGPU is activated. Can use 'lspci -n| grep 10de' at the xterm prompt to see if it detected on the PCI BUS and so the eGPU hardware is OK.
In that way you remove Win10 updates as a possible contributor for causing the failure.

Hello all
I finally had some time to putz around with this lap top. Borrowed one of my friends AMD based video card Rx 6500 XT.
Could not get the amd rx6500 xt to work.
Found problem:
Turns out my beast mini pcie cable was not working /broken. If i moved this cable a little the fan on the AMD card would come on, but card still not detected.
So I opened the cable up at the black rubber material right behind the pcie card part. Sure enough on of the little wires was frayed broken. I have ordered a new dock and cable just to make sure will update this post when i get new dock and cable.

Hello everyone
Just want to report that my sytem an eGPU are working again.
Updating original post with newer info.
ps
I will test my friend AMD card when i can get the atx power cable that goes from dock to card as i could not get it work without it( power supply 6 pin was connecte3d to card)
